Happy Friday, loves! I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving. We spent ours with friends and family eating way too much!
I want to let you know about the sales that are going on today at some of my favorite stores. Just click on the name of the store below and start shopping! I plan to do a little (or maybe a lot!) online shopping this morning before going out to enjoy the day on the boat with some friends (because, who's got time to drive around repeatedly looking for parking, fight the crowds for an item, stand in line for an hour, and stress out at the mall?) Not me. I'll do my shopping from home in my pajamas while sipping a cup of coffee, thank you very much.
Have a great weekend and see you back here on Monday!

And the Party Continues
Top: Banana Republic (on Sale now, plus take an additional 30% off your entire Banana Republic purchase through end of day today with code BRBLACK30 !), Skater Skirt: Forever 21 (also really like this one , by the way, all their regular priced skirts and dresses are 20% off right now!), Shoes: Manolo Blahnik (lower cost options here and here), Bag: Chanel (seriously in awe of this steal option in black here), Sunglasses: Prada (similar lower cost option here)
So, today I bring you another option for a casual party during the upcoming holiday celebrations. In my quest to wear (and show you) more looks with skirts and dresses, I have confirmed that I am partial to the skater style in both said pieces.
I just love the girly, slightly flirty, look of this mesh skater skirt from Forever 21. It's so figure flattering, and the black mesh overlay on the cream background adds a little edge. Plus, you can't beat the price! I paired this skirt with a perforated faux leather top that I tucked in to sort of "dress up" the look (tucked in is always dressier than not). A ladylike bag and a pair of high-heeled pointy toe pumps and, et voila, I am ready for yet another party! ;-)
Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving! I am spending it with friends and family. I hope you get to spend yours surrounded by your loved ones as well!

Gettin' Furry with It + An Amazing Giveaway!
Vest: Love Token (old, but also liking this one and this one and have my eye on this one), Jeans: Citizens of Humanity "Emerson" (lower cost option here and here), T-Shirt: Cotton Citizen (bought it at a local boutique in South Miami called Tupelo Honey but similar here and here), Shoes: Joie "Remy" (also like this lower cost option), Bag: Michael Michael Kors "Selma", Watch: Fossil, Necklace: Kendra Scott "Elisa Necklace" in Platinum Drusy, Sunglasses: Versace, Lipstick: Tom Ford "True Coral"
Today I'm showing you an outfit that I couldn't feel more at home in. An oh-so-comfy pair of lived in boyfriends, a soft cotton tee, a pair of lace-up heels, and a great bag. Speaking of bags, I am so loving this new one I got from Michael Michael Kors. I just bought it two weeks ago and have already worn it like five times! This is my first bag from this designer and I have to say that I am quite impressed with its quality.
To add a little more interest to the look, and because we are in November after all, I layered on this furry vest. I'm in love with the gray and beige combo in it. As always, you know I'm a fan of a bold lip so I went with a bright coral to kick up the otherwise neutral look.
Now, I have some exciting news!!! Just in time for some holiday shopping, I have teamed up with a group of lovely lady bloggers to bring you an amazing Giveaway- a $300 Kate Spade Giftcard!!!
The Giveaway starts today and goes through November 25th. It's open to residents of the US and Canada. The winner will be chosen at random through the Rafflecopter and will be emailed after all entries have been verified. Enter through the Rafflecopter below and good luck to you!!!

Who's that Lady?
Shirt: Anthropologie, Skirt: JOA via Piperlime on Sale right now!, Shoes: Sam Edelman (old, also liking these here), Bag: Christian Dior "Miss Dior", Necklace: H&M (old, also like this one and this one), Sunglasses: Prada, Lipstick: Mac "Diva"
Happy Monday to all! I hope you had a great weekend. Today I am channeling my inner Lucille Ball and having some fun with this gorgeous full midi skirt from Piperlime (which is on Sale now!).
A few weeks back, I mentioned to you that I needed to update the skirts/dresses portion of my closet. So, when I saw this skirt on Maggie from Polished Closets, I fell in love with it and knew I had to have it. It's so feminine and perfectly ladylike-totally brings me back to the 1950's fashion era. The minute I put it on, I felt the urge to say, "Oh, Ricky!"... ;-)
How do you feel about full skirts? Let me know in the comments below.

Our Trip to Rome
Today I'm showing you some pictures from our recent trip to Rome. I don't know about you but when I hear the word Rome, right away I think Colosseum. The funny thing is that, although I'd been to Rome twice before, I had not made it out to this particular site! Needless to say, it is awe-inspiring and a total must-see if you visit this city.
Again, we took a ton of pictures but I've edited them down to just a few of my favorites. I hope you enjoy!
The Spanish Steps is another must-see
This is the view looking down from the Steps
The bustling streets in front of the Steps
A quieter street nearby
The Tiber River as seen from the Trastevere area of Rome
The famous Piazza Navona

A Tour Through Blogland
Good morning and Happy Monday, everybody! I hope you had a great weekend. I was so flattered when the beautiful and very smart (hello, she's also an attorney!), Alecia Mariana, creator of the blog La Joie de Vivre nominated me to participate in A Tour Through Blogland.
We have been following each other's blogs pretty much from the time of inception and I admire the fact that, in such a short time, Alecia has already done so many cool collaborations and has been part of some great events. Plus, she's a former Florida girl and a Gator so... Love her! ;-)
I think these Tours Through Blogland are awesome because they provide us with a little more insight on the bloggers we follow on a regular basis and, in my opinion, just really help improve the connection between the reader and the blogger.
So, without further ado, here's what's going with Girl In a Hot City...
What am I working on?
At the moment I am focusing on the direction in which I want to take the blog. Today marks nine months that I started GHC and am finally getting my legs and starting to feel more comfortable with the whole blogging process. I am finding my voice and my goal for the next few months is to really work on my content and make sure my voice is clearly heard.
How does my work differ from others in its genre?
You know, I don't know that it does. There's a million of us out there so, by sheer law of probability, I know my blog is very similar to a lot of others. The one difference I would say is that this particular blog is mine and, therefore, it's got my vibe. Also, I believe I am significantly older than the majority of bloggers. But, hey, it's never too late, right?
Why do I write/create what I do?
Cause it's fun! Plain and simple. I love fashion, I love putting outfits together, I love seeing the end result in pictures and I absolutely love the community that I've become a part of. One of my favorite byproducts of this whole blogging thing is the connections you can make with other like-minded individuals. Be it non-blogger readers or fellow bloggers, the connection and interaction with people who love style and fashion as much as you do and being able to discuss it and "get" one another is just amazing. I love that!
How does my writing/creating process work?
It's so funny because I don't consider myself to be a very creative person and I don't exactly love writing so, there really hasn't been a process in place. It's one of the things I am focusing on right now. I've just been kinda going on feeling. Some days I'll feel like talking about the outfit I'm posting, some days I'll just want to show you the outfit and talk to you about what I did over the weekend, some days I won't want to say anything but "Have a great day!". I guess you can say it's a work in progress...
Now, I want to introduce you to these two lovely ladies, whose blogs I love, and ask them to come along on the Tour. Make sure you check out their blogs today and also tune in next week when they share their answers to the above questions!

Hence, Nicole to the Nines was born. I've always loved fashion, but don't believe you have to spend a lot of money to look great (but a little splurge is always fun!). Nicole to the Nines is where I share my style, fashion inspiration, and the great deals I find with everyone.
